Due to its integrated protection features and human-machine interface capabilities, it is an efficient and economical solution for all types of switchgear. With three powerful microprocessors, SYMAP provides complete protection and control capabilities for generators, motors (synchronous and asynchronous), transformers, power lines and distribution. All protection functions can be activated at the same time, and there is no restriction on the use of all protection functions at the same time.
With SYMAP, five main circuit breaker controls can be activated and all necessary functions such as display, control, and latching can be provided for optimal circuit breaker management. Small integrated PLCS allow independent interlocking of control commands. To maintain flexibility during debugging and use, both digital and analog outputs can be used to connect the SYMAP control unit to the main switchboard control unit.
In addition, various serial interfaces with different kinds of data protocols are available for communication between SYMAP units and the central control system. For diagnostics and monitoring, SYMAP has three microprocessors that monitor each other and provide a watchdog system. Important functions are arranged in a dual redundant combination, running independently with a second processor. When connected alone, the optional unit for short circuit protection runs in parallel with the SYMAP device, even if the power supply fails.
